Alright folks. Cue the dramatic music.

There's two days to go, and you know what that means! The last round is here!

The category for this challenge is "Final Score". You will have two hours to complete it.

Since this round has started three hours late (a compromise I was forced into courtesy of Thanksgiving), the round will also finish three hours late. I will also end Round 9 and the Bonus Challenge at this time.

Here's hoping for a highly epic finish to the tourney!

And here's the moment you've all been waiting for...

Over the past seven weeks, I have challenged you to do things you never believed possible, and you have invented new and crafty ways of meeting my objectives. But in the end, there can only be two winners... (one for each league >_>)

And a SURPRISE LATE SUBMISSION TURNS THE TABLES YET AGAIN...

Round 9

Challenge 21
League 1: No submissions
League 2: SBW (20:11) def MK (no submission)
Points: RPG 0, Aitamen 0, SBW 12, MK 0

Challenge 22
League 1: yoshifan (15:02) def Nelspike (no submission)
League 2: Judgement (22:56) def digitrev (no submission)
Points: yoshifan 8, Nelspike 0, Judgement 10, digitrev 0

Challenge 23
League 1: eredani (15:47) def SJ (17:58)
League 2: No submissions
Points: eredani 8, SJ 3, Achlys 0, MaxFirestorm 0

Challenge 24
League 1: Quartz (17:04) def SkyL (18:25)
League 2: No submissions
Points: Quartz 8, SkyL 3, Strong Bad 0, genus 0

Round 10

League One:
Aitamen - no submission
Nelspike - no submission
RPG - no submission
SkyL - DQ
eredani - no completion
SJ - 326920
Quartz - 388650
yoshifan - 508880
Points: yoshifan 10 (+1), Quartz 7, SJ 5

League Two
Strong Bad - no submission
MaxFirestorm - no submission
genus - no submission
digitrev - no submission
MK - no submission
Judgement - no completion
SBW - 167020
Achlys - 213960
Points: Achlys 10, SBW 7

Bonus Challenge
Achlys - 1:59
SJ - 1:58
Quartz - 1:48
yoshifan - 1:28
eredani - 1:28

yoshifan and eredani will each receive the five points!

And now, the fruits of your seven weeks' labour will be sown... The Final Table is as follows:

Code: [Select]
League One

Player   | W | L | FFA1 | FFA2 | FFA3 | Bonus | Total
yoshifan%| 7 | 0 |    4 |    4 |   11 |     7 |    82
Quartz   | 6 | 1 |    3 |   10 |    7 |    13 |    81
eredani% | 5 | 2 |   10 |    6 |    0 |    17 |    73
SJ       | 3 | 4 |    7 |    7 |    5 |    16 |    59

Aitamen  | 1 | 6 |    0 |    0 |    0 |     1 |     9
Nelspike | 0 | 7 |    2 |    0 |    0 |     0 |     2

League Two

Player   | W | L | FFA1 | FFA2 | FFA3 | Bonus | Total
SBW      | 5 | 2 |   11 |    5 |    7 |    29 |    92
Achlys   | 5 | 2 |    0 |   10 |   10 |    17 |    77
Judgment | 6 | 1 |    0 |    0 |    0 |    15 |    63
Max      | 4 | 3 |    7 |    8 |    0 |     2 |    49
MK       | 1 | 5 |    0 |    0 |    0 |     0 |    12
genus    | 0 | 7 |    5 |    0 |    0 |     3 |     8
SB       | 0 | 7 |    4 |    0 |    0 |     0 |     4
digitrev | 0 | 6 |    0 |    0 |    0 |     0 |     4

% - indicates five points for winning the Bonus Challenge

Congratulations to the winners! Prizes will be forthcoming shortly.

Let me just say that I've had a fantastic time running this tournament. It's always fun to see the skills of the best players on show, and once again all my expectations have been surpassed. Except one... the amount of submissions I'd get every week. I think it started with 13 in the first round, and slowly thinned its way down to the last round turnout of merely 7. Players seemed to be less likely to complete challenges when it became apparent they couldn't win (RPG I'm looking at you >_>) so we need to think of some way to make sure that doesn't happen.

I don't think the League Two additional points experiment worked too well either, particularly with Aitamen and Nelspike being no-shows pretty much all tournament. I think it will work if we can consistently get eight League One players every week, but see the previous paragraph for the problems we face there.

And on that note, an interesting idea was presented to me by... I think yoshifan in the last week. He said that the existing TSC players should be in League One, and any new recruits gained by the tournament scheme should go to League Two. That was certainly the original idea I had in mind, and it ended up being that SBW, Achlys and Judgement were far too good for the rest of the competition - not really an ideal scenario.

One last announcement. I know I said I enjoyed running the tournament but I think I might enjoy competing in one even more. As such, I am stepping down from the role of tournament co-ordinator, and am leaving the position open to all takers. Any new tournament won't be held until March at the very earliest (and probably not until June), so we'll have plenty of time to sort that out.

Congratulations to all the competitors (especially the ones that stuck it out until the end), and hopefully you'll come back and do it all again!

Suggestion: Let whoever the hell wants to hold one, provided they can provide enough challenges to do so.

Anyways, here are my reflections. First, win. :o

Second... Thorn's elimination plan might be the way to go. This way the lower-ranked players don't have to worry about submitting since they're already not going to win. I'm planning a small-scale tournament (maybe just a test one, not sure) that's going to utilize elimination as well so we'll see if that works.

Third... My personal opinion is that League Two bonus points (for beating L1) shouldn't take effect for non-submitters. Kinda defeats the purpose in my opinion.

I don't know about anyone else, but I had fun (and would've even if Achlys had come out on top). I'd definitely have another go. (And with luck, I'll have more time to actually get decent runs in.) And yeah I'm looking forward to playing with the big boys. GRAWR.

Let me restate my suggestion on this matter.  I suggested that the bonus points should only take effect if the league 2 player defeats both league 1 players.  That way, it's not as much of an extremity (combined with the afformentioned idea would be good too)

FINALLY, THE PRIZE(S)
I put them together as one, because they alone would have been so... thin.

Also sorry that it looks a bit ugly but I'm out of practise. :(
