So, I've been looking at the SF score charts recently, (actually since April) and noticed something odd, scores that are impossible to achieve without multipliers, which are banned from competition, belonging to user swf89. How can I tell?

Well first off, they don't have videos, even the ones sitting in first, so that should be an immediate red flag, since all first place records set after New Years 2017 are required to have them, but what really sets these records apart is that unlike literally every other score on the charts in this category, they don't all end in a clean hundred value, which is impossible without the use of the 1.2 and 1.7x multipliers, since the minimum unit of score in this game is 100, and nothing in the game naturally gives any point values that would raise the tens digit. This, and all the scores that possess this oddity all cleanly divide by 1.2 or 1.7, the two lower end score multipliers.

Stage 20 Guardian Rock for instance, a score of 3,628,480 supposedly. But, when divided by 1.7, the multiplier, which is banned from competition, it comes out as 2,134,400, the actual score of the run, and the stat that should have been submitted.

Lost Valley, an incredibly optimized stage in terms of SA as far as I'm concerned, beaten by nearly 400k, with a score of 1,571,310, one that is impossible to achieve without multipliers, since completing an optimized SA while somehow going at WR speedrun pace wouldn't even get you an extra 100k in time bonus, when comparing optimized SA times to the time bonus of WR runs. Also, there's no possible way to squeeze an extra 400k out of the remaining rings & enemies while still maintaining a fast enough pace, since many of them are being collected/killed already, and the Red Rings & Number Rings are already being collected in the most optimized SA runs. But, divide this score by 1.7, and it comes out as 924,300, the actual score, which is a lot more realistic. Below, I've compiled some more of these Posted vs Actual scores when removing the 1.7x multiplier.

Prison Hall: 3,237,990 - 1,904,700
Arsenal Pyramid: 4,169,590 - 2,452,700
Luminous Forest: 2,113,780 - 1,243,400
Park Avenue: 3,182,910 - 1,872,300
Capital City: 3,218,780 - 1,893,400
Final Judgement: 1,885,130 - 1,108,900

Casino Forest is the first instance of the 1.2x multiplier, giving us 1,456,600 from the posted 1,747,920 on the leaderboard. Below are some more I've compiled.

Bomb Block 1: 1,325,640 - 1,104,700
Plasma Cannon 1: 1,309,440 - 1,091,200
Laser Cannon 1: 1,172,520 - 977,100
Reverse Block 1: 1,648,920 - 1,374,100

These are some scores I would love to see proof of, since they have the slight potential to be legitimate, but they are way above the current optimized records with no proof, some of which (mainly Vanish Panel 1) would require massive leaps in strategy that would likely set new speedrun WRs, not just score attack WRs, to achieve, when no corresponding mind boggling times exist.

Vanish Panel 1: 1,731,000
Flying Pod: 1,285,200
Imperial Tower: 2,236,200

I realize this isn't the Leaderboard Disputes thread, but this forum is pretty dead, and this does concern competition. I'm not waiting for permission to post there, and my aim is just to draw some attention to this, since these stats were all posted on the same day in April this year, and I'm tired of looking at them knowing of their illegitimate nature and saying nothing about them when nothing has been done, and no one seems to have noticed, or called it out, since they are all still standing on the charts at the time of writing.

Bumped Blaze’s theoretical max up to 610, WOO!

Sweet ass phone vid of mah DSi

Preview said the video link was invalid when I tried to embed the video itself >_> so anyway, I’m just pumped right now cuz a few weeks ago, I managed to pull off a backtracking trick with Blaze on Hidden Island 16 (y’know, the Leaf Storm 1 clone) that I’ve thought for years was 100% impossible to do, and that video showcases a 570 rings run I did tonight with that new trick, allowing Blaze to collect every stage ring and still reach all the random ring boxes, finishing with ring box values that would’ve yielded only a 550 run with the old route, making tying my 570 and setting a new WR of 590 much more reasonable to obtain… if I don’t get it first, lol.

Theoretically, 610 is possible, if you want to try and beat the 0.16% odds of four 50s happening…

Again, I doubt anyone really cares, but as a man who lives for this shit, I wanted to share this somewhere besides just YouTube, so here I am. Also, I’m lowkey thinking about picking up a 3DS and the Sonic Boom games to give those a shot.

God, how have I not seen this before today? So the official Sonic Twitter posted a vid of an 0:11 on Marble Act 2 with some comical changes made to it four days ago. Just thought I’d share, cuz I bet some of you guys would get a kick out of the official Sonic Twitter poking fun at this old WR. I wonder whose clip they used, cuz I doubt whoever runs that account could do it themselves. XD

Competition Central / Sonic 1 2013 - an RA Query
« on: June 06, 2018, 02:51:56 am »
According to the competition rules for this game, flying as Sonic & Tails together is not allowed due to a glitch that allows Sonic & Tails to earn two rings even though they only collected one.

However, never is it mentioned that I can't make Tails fly, I just can't fly while holding onto Tails.

Technicalitieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Using this, I was able to make Tails fly up and collect the 10 rings without ever flying as Sonic & Tails together. (actually in the video, I got 8 of them with Tails, and got the last 2 with Sonic's lightning shield lol but you get the idea.) Video below. I got bored and recently started playing this again.

My question is, is this allowed? I didn't want to post it to the charts without confirmation, since this kinda feels like a gray area for this rule, (or maybe I'm just dumb) and no one else seems to have attempted this, as simple as this is honestly.

Wikkity! / iexrrr - SA2(B) - Route 280 - 276 Rings - Query...

iexrrr's Route 280 Ring Attack - 276 Rings

I have a query about this ring attack... I saw this pop up in my Twitter feed, and I know I don't play Sonic Adventure 2, but if I understand TSC rules correctly, you are not allowed to collect the same ring more than once in the same run. (under general rules,) If we look at the description on iexrrr's video, it says that, and I quote from the video's description, "...rings re-spawn a minute after they're collected, so you can backtrack to collect some rings twice." My question is, to someone who understands this game well, does this violate said rule that a ring may not be collected twice in the same run? Because this seems kinda sketchy to me...

Wikkity! / RealSonicKings - 293,100 points on EHZ 2 in 1 run? What?
« on: March 19, 2016, 03:36:10 pm »
I saw this pop up in my Twitter feed, and frankly, I can't even begin to comprehend how this score is possible to achieve in 1 run of this level. Can I get some kind of explanation as to how you did this RealSonicKings? Because you're almost 200,000 points above everyone else on TSC on this level.
See for yourself.

Wikkity! / Halloween Topics! Final: Your Halloween Plans
« on: October 31, 2015, 05:09:06 am »
Welcome back, for the final day of Halloween Topics! Thank you to those of you who got involved with it, and if you want me to continue into November with different topic themes, just let me know.

So, as you can guess, today's question is; what are you planning to do for Halloween?

I'm probably going to make a video of sorts for Halloween for my YouTube channel, and possibly go out in a last-second costume and get a sh*tload of candy. And since it's a Saturday, get on my PS3 & get some gaming in. I thirst for my PS3…

Now you! What are you planning to do today?

Wikkity! / Halloween Topics! 4: Favorite Creepypasta
« on: October 30, 2015, 06:46:11 am »
Welcome back once again to Halloween Topics! This is topic #4, which means tomorrow is the last topic in this Halloween series! Please let me know if you want me to continue making these threads after Halloween!

I feel like yesterday's topic was a flop, didn't have that many responses. Didn't seem like a relatable topic I guess. Anyway, today's topic is creepypastas… and for those of you who don't know what a creepypasta is, it's a scary short story you read online. It can be about anything; TV shows, video games, something in real life, and so on. So the question is; what's your favorite creepypasta? And for those of you who haven't read a creepypasta before, I recommend looking up the YouTube channel SomeOrdinaryGamers, he does a series called haunted gaming where he does read-alongs to really good video game creepypastas that were submitted to his forum.

For my favorite creepypasta, I'm going to pick the creepypasta called It Has A Lovely Ending. It's a story about this flash game on Facebook (I forget what it's called) but it's hypnotizing its players and making them spam email their friends about this flash game, and they always say, "it has a lovely ending." You can find it on the SomeOrdinaryGamers forum if you want to read it for yourself.

I'm not sure how many creepypasta fans we have here on TSC, but I wanna hear from you, what's your favorite creepypasta?

Wikkity! / Halloween Topics! 3: Most Bizarre Costume
« on: October 29, 2015, 06:11:03 am »
Welcome back again, to Halloween Topics! This is topic #3, topic #4 is coming your way tomorrow!

As for today's topic, we're going to get away from the spooky aspect, and take a look at a different aspect of Halloween; the costumes people wear. That being said, today's question is; what is the most bizarre costume you have ever seen or worn?

I don't really have a story to go along with this one, other than that the social media app ifunny has shown me some costumes where I looked at it and said "why is this a thing?" One of those costumes was this symbol; # Yep, that is legitimately a costume, that symbol made of foam or something, and it's life-size. It's attached to a shirt you put on. And it's called, the hashtag. *smh* What are we coming to? Anyway, the dude who was wearing it for the picture was pretty funny, his face was saying "please kill me now, I don't like this but I have to wear it for this picture."

Okay, done with my turn. Now it's your turn, what's the most bizarre costume you've ever seen or worn?

Wikkity! / Halloween Topics! 2: Creepiest Song/Soundtrack/Music Video
« on: October 28, 2015, 06:27:00 am »
Welcome back to Halloween Topics! This is topic 2, get ready for #3 tomorrow!

We're gonna stick with our theme of spooky things, at least for now, so, that being said, today's question is; what's the most terrifying song/soundtrack/music video you've listened to/watched?

Hill zone from Sonic.exe No, that's too cliche. Plus I used that game yesterday, let's use something else. I'd go with the intro soundtracks SomeOrdinaryGamers on YouTube use for their videos. The guy who makes the videos does lots of things with creepypastas and playing scary/creepypasta games, and his intros do a good job of setting the mood, and most of the time it's pretty eerie.

Now then, what eerie song or video do you think is the most terrifying thing ever?

Wikkity! / Halloween Topics! 1: Spookiet Game Experience
« on: October 27, 2015, 08:20:51 am »
This is Halloween we're talking about, and since Halloween is supposed to be a frightening holiday, we'll begin our topics with one I feel is kinda cliche; what's your spookiest game experience? This doesn't have to be something that happened to you in-game for it to be spooky. It doesn't have to be Sonic either.

Mine would still have to be playing version 5 of Sonic.exe back in September 2013. I promised my fans on YouTube that if I got to 100 subs by Friday the 13th, I would play Sonic.exe for them, and well, I think you can guess what happened. I downloaded it, and I played it, making a live reaction video to go along with it. I was trembling while playing that game, and the "I am God" jumpscare still haunts me to this day. I was half relieved, half disappointed that the game eventually crashed though, sucks that I didn't get to finish it.

If you can believe it, more than a year later I found myself playing Sally.exe!

What's your spooky game story?

New topic tomorrow!

Wikkity! / Halloween Topics!

Heyo TSC! I took a hint from S&A on another forum post earlier today,
I applauded hfactors daily threads about random topics, wish he'd still do them. what the site lacks is people like yall with passion,
and I decided sure, why the hell not? I did it last year in December for the end of the year, and it had a huge turnout. So I'll be doing 5 topics for Halloween, and if you, the people of TSC, want to see these continue after Halloween, I'd be glad to continue making these! I'm currently thinking of some ideas for topics, and if you've got an idea you think is worthy enough for a post PM it to me!

Hope to see some activity from you TSC, and I hope these will be as fun as they were 10 months ago!

Wikkity! / Anyone know a good DS emulator?
« on: April 15, 2015, 11:35:07 pm »
I'm looking to play Sonic Rush again, but right now I don't feel like investing in a 3rd DSi, I already broke 2 doing RA with Blaze, and I don't feel like breaking more R buttons doing RA with Sonic. So does anyone know a good DS emulator? I'd appreciate it.

UPDATE: servers are back online, so zones are going to change now.
All Zones 1000+ confirmed possible. Time to explore new boundaries.
Green Hill Zone 1000+ and 1100+ confirmed possible.
Jungle Zone 1100+, 1200+ and 1300+ confirmed possible!
Mechanical Zone 1000+ and 1100+ confirmed possible.

That's right, we're in quad digit rings now!

Green Hill Zone best: 1190 rings w/Neutral Super Rare Chao (Amy)
Jungle Zone best: 1371 rings w/Neutral Super Rare Chao (Amy)
Blue Sky Zone best: 1038 rings w/Neutral Super Rare Chao (Amy)
Mechanical Zone best: 1100 rings w/Neutral Super Rare chao (Amy)

If you wanted to try this, I'd recommend upgrading your Fever to level 5 & keeping it there, you'll see why if you play the game. Also I recommend using the Neutral Super Rare chao in the series that collects rings. If you really wanna do it right, you need to predetermine ONE character you want to use for RA and upgrade ONLY their stats until you'd go to level 6.

I can supply screenshots of any of these games if needed.

UPDATE: New verdict, any Chao is allowed for RA competition, the only thing not allowed for RA competition is the Ring Streak booster.

Competition Central / The Sonic 1 Speed Run RA Mega-Thread
« on: March 18, 2015, 02:46:10 pm »
This thread will be for posting your fastest times for Ring-Attacking Sonic 1 stages, but only the fastest times will be displayed.

Please note that the 2013 iOS remake of Sonic 1 cannot be used here, as I have plans to make a separate thread for this version of the game later, because the remake features spindash while the original does not.

For stages that have an untied RA record, such as Star Light Zone act 3, the time and the number of rings will be displayed, and are also marked with a *

Normally, rankings will display the time, TSC profile name, and link to proof if such proof exists.

This thread will be updated daily.

PLEASE NOTE: stages with no submissions will display the time 9:59.

Recently I've been replaying & RAing GHZ 2 on Sonic 1, only this time I'm doing a speed run RA.
My best so far is 1:39. I know this can be done faster. My question is; can you do better?
GHZ 2 RA in 1:39
UPDATE: My best is now 1:34. How fast are you? BTW this can probably go sub-1:30.
UPDATE 2: Right again, my best is now 1:29. Can you get all 163 rings faster than me?
UPDATE 3: Tied mega man's 1:28.

Yep, plain and simple. What character from the Sonic series is your absolute favorite?

If you SERIOUSLY can't figure out who mine is by looking at my profile picture & username then you should probably get your eyes checked, cuz it's spelled out for you clear as day.

Tomorrow's topic will be the final topic! :)

This time I'm just gonna get right to it. Is there a Sonic game (or games) that you wish you would have played?

There's a lot of Sonic games I wish I could play, like many of the 3DS Sonic titles, I don't have a 3DS & I want to play them so bad! I want to play either of the Sonic Boom titles cuz I wanna see how the games turned out, as they were highly anticipated by some of the community. I've seen some episodes of the show, and it's alright.

What about you?

Wikkity! / Topic 10 - What was your favorite boss battle in a Sonic game?
« on: December 27, 2014, 10:25:08 am »
Let's give the bad guys a little recognition today. No Sonic game would be complete without its bosses to defeat, some of them are relatively simple & terribly easy to defeat, but others are a bit more complicated than that. What's your all time favorite boss battle?

This is a very difficult choice for me, I've thoroughly enjoyed so many boss battles, even when it was frustrating trying to figure out how to beat them. I think the one that stands out the most for me would have to be the Death Egg zone of Sonic 2. I can't tell you how many times I've died in that zone alone, it is so frustrating. I've gone into Death Egg with over 20 lives sometimes, and at the end of the day, I STILL lose! It's gotten easier as I've gotten older though, but the grudge I held against this boss growing up was a long one… I remember earlier this year on a ROM hack of Sonic 2 (Sonic 2 Pink Edition, replaces Sonic with Amy & Tails with Cream) I entered Death Egg with almost 25 lives, and I managed to beat him on my last life!

What's yours?

Wikkity! / Topic 9 - How did you become a Sonic fan?
« on: December 26, 2014, 08:11:24 am »
It's clear that everyone here on TSC (or mostly everyone I would assume) is a fan of Sonic, but how did you come to know The Blue Blur in the first place? In other words, how did you become a Sonic fan?

When I was a kid I had a SEGA Genesis & several Sonic cartridges, I grew up playing Sonic. Then as I got older we got rid of the Gensis for a PS2, we got the mega collection plus Sonic game for that, so that game took me back. When I hit my early teen years I grew out of Sonic & almost forgot about it entirely, HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR MY CRUSH ON AMY ROSE. I also have a fetish with water peril, so what I would do late some nights was play specifically the levels that had a lot of water in them on Sonic Advance 3 & create water peril with Amy, and later on when I got my first iPod and a GBA emulator I did the same thing with Sonic Advance. What resparked my passion for Sonic was one weekend back in November 2013. I decided the second weekend in November 2013 to sit down & do a marathon sitting of my favorite childhood TV show, Sonic X. After that weekend, I remembered how much I love the Sonic series & became a fan once again.

What's your story?

Wikkity! / Topic 8 - Have you ever had a "Christmas Miracle?"
« on: December 25, 2014, 01:45:26 pm »
Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone! :)
Have you ever had something totally amazing happen on Christmas happen that you could only describe as a Christmas Miracle?

I have had 2 back to back Christmas Miracles, and they're both on video, one happened not too long ago! Last year on a game called Diablo II Lord of Destruction (expansion set) I got an ultra rare ring on video, and my reaction is priceless. You can find it on my YouTube channel. My 2014 Christmas Miracle was on Iblis Phase 3 on Sonic 06, I crushed my old best of 3:03.266 by over 40 seconds, ON VIDEO! Will be uploaded to my channel as soon as I get the chance!

So, have YOU ever had a Christmas Miracle?

Wikkity! / Topic 7 - What do you hope you'll get for Christmas tomorrow?
« on: December 24, 2014, 09:59:11 am »
Yes it's cliche, I know, but it's finally that time of year again. I apologize if you don't celebrate Christmas for a different holiday like Hanukkah & I fully respect that. :)

I'm not hoping for much, but with all the money I'll probably get I can buy a couple of the things I was hoping to get. My PS3 headset is broken, so I want a new one of those, I want a new DSi or a 3DS, my DSi's R button is broken, I can't do RAs on it ;-; and maybe one of my AL boss records back. S&A, I have a feeling we're going to be great rivals.

Enough about me, what are you hoping for?

Come back every day until New Years for new topics! Also, merry Christmas, and happy holidays! :)

Wikkity! / Topic 6 - What's your favorite soundtrack from a Sonic game?
« on: December 23, 2014, 05:35:16 pm »
This time, let's get away from it all. Music is one way a lot of us use to escape reality and go into our own world, I know I do. So on that note, what is your absolute favorite soundtrack from any Sonic game?

I would have to go with the Crisis City soundtrack from Sonic 06, either that or the Chaos Angel soundtrack from Sonic Advance 3. SA3's Chaos Angel soundtrack has the perfect fit for a final zone soundtrack, and it just sounds awesome. Crisis City is a rocking soundtrack from what is widely known as the worst Sonic game ever.

What's your favorite?

Come back every day for new topics until New Years! :)
