It's not actually that hard to speedrun, trust me. The game just takes some practice to play well, but I guess the same goes for all Sonic games. Why the hate for music plant? :( ... XD

Anyway it's great to see someone else who shares my deep passion for Sonic Advance 2! ^_^

I feel like it's more difficult than other handheld Sonic games, mostly because if you stop moving for even a second you lose SOOOO much time. And Sonic's air dash makes my thumb hurt after like 2 stages >.>

And I don't like the music plant 's design or theme, I dunno xP But, it's boss is my favorite in the game!

I'll get around to trying to speedrun it someday, I'm too focused on Sonic Colors DS at the moment though.

DOH! HOW DID I MISS THAT!? Man, I feel dumb..Sorry about that Dx

Second time that I've asked an extremely dumb question here ._.

I've been working on running Sonic Colors DS recently, and I noticed that bosses are available in Time Attack mode. Forgive me if I am missing something here, but why are there no boss attack times in the Sonic Colors DS rankings? I am having a lot of fun trying to beat the bosses fast and I'd love to see how I compare to other people!!

But, I guess if I HAD to narrow it down to one I'd say Sky Canyon from Sonic Advance 2, despite the fact that a lot of people say it's one of the worst Sonic stages ever haha

You’ve made a wise decision there my friend; with the exception of Techno Base, Sky Canyon stacks up above the other zones in my book. I don’t know why some people particularly dislike it, but there you go. In my opinion, however, Sky Canyon beats Egg Utopia by a nose hair (and the rest of the zones rank up neck and neck for me). :)

Hyrdrocity Zone, because it's a mix of fast and slow segments, and they're not too much of a pain.

Definitely one of the most memorable zones in the game for me. It is, and alwas will be, awesome. :D

I think Sonic Advance 2 is just a masterpiece of a game in general (though I don't care for Music Plant honestly.) The only reason why I haven't started trying to run it yet is that it feels like it has such a high skill floor, and I don't think I'm prepared for it yet xD Techno Base is definitely also a rad stage!

This is a difficult thing for me to answer...I know what stages are NOT my favorite (any Casino based stage, almost any winter themed stage)

But, I guess if I HAD to narrow it down to one I'd say Sky Canyon from Sonic Advance 2, despite the fact that a lot of people say it's one of the worst Sonic stages ever haha

Wow! Thanks for all the awesome replies! I'm going to follow all of you :) I've started getting back into Sonic Speedrunning a bit, and it's pretty funny that Luxary mentioned something about speedrunning Colors and Rush, since I've been working on both of those recently, maybe we could talk sometime? :)

Well, occasionally DsS or Paraxade stream some of their attempts. You just missed 2 blocks of big streams at the SpeedDemosArchive marathon. If there were more people interested in them, I'm sure they'd be more frequent

Edit: HyperSonic7701 streams his attempts often too. But they're usually ring attacks, and I'm not sure if you're interested in those or not. and in Generations

I actually watched all the sonic Speedruns at AGDQ and that's what reminded about how awesome Sonic speedruns are! But yeah, I'll be sure to check out Paraxade and DsS, I didn't realize they streamed!

And Sonicboom, I just tossed you a follow, i hope to see some of your streams in the future :) I'll be sure to check out the Sonic race son speedrunslive too!

Thanks a ton guys!

General Sonic / Does any here stream high level sonic play?

Hey there, I've been watching a lot of speedrunning for the past few years, but I almost never see Sonic games being streamed, and those that I do tend to exclusively be the 3d ones. Anyone here stream any high level sonic play (any game, even the 3d ones)?

^ Exactly; there is no rule saying which mode you must use. That's what we're getting at.

Ah OKAY! xD I get it now, sorry about me being a little slow today haha

For Sonic CD 2011, due to Tails not being available in Time Attack mode, we allow any time period to be used. See here for any restrictions in games; while we have this restriction in all other Sonic CD versions, we make the exception here.

Thank you, but that's never mentioned on that competition rules page under "Sonic CD 2011" so, that's why I've been so confused.

All that I see is:
Quote
*Debug Mode is not allowed.

Rings Divisions
*In Wacky Workbench 1, you can't activate the Angel statue more than once.

Score Divisions
*In Wacky Workbench 1, you can't activate the Angel Statue more than once.
*Scores must be attained in a single, continuous run (without deaths).

Special Divisions
*The game's Time Attack mode is to be used for setting records."

I have the steam version

I'm confused though, I thought time recording was supposed to be in Time Attack mode? How do I change to past or future in time attack? :o

Like I said, i could just not know what I'm talking about haha

To my understanding the have different stage design, I know that in the Palmtree Panic zone 1 fastest time video, the stage looks NOTHING like anything in my game. Doesn't this give an unfair advantage to one version or another? Would it just be too much clutter to separate them?

I also could have no idea what I'm talking about..
