A couple quick points:

1) This site is incredibly dead. Look around you -- this place gets maybe 3-4 posts per year, and it's usually the likes of passersby such as yourself.

2) Even if someone were here to tend to your issue, you're going to need to demonstrate which, if any, records he's posted on here are illegitimate, and how they are such. His actions elsewhere don't have any weight.

General Sonic / I finally found it!

Remember that time in IRC chat like, forever ago...

I told people I was certain of the release date of Sonic 3 being February 2nd of 1994 because of a Groundhog Day ad I saw as a child.

Well, here it is!

I like how his face is still plain. No smiling, no actual indication of enjoyment besides the title.

But the dude definitely needs some eye drops.

Style aside, what matters here are Challenge Rooms are instanced. As in, you have to load into them, then load back into the main level. That's particularly why there are similar bans in S2/S3. Forget about what happens inside of them. If it causes a level to reload, it should be banned.

6
If the Challenge rooms are that volatile, they should be treated like Sonic 2 Special Stages (which do the same thing, reset the Rings throughout the level) and be outright disallowed. Even in Sonic 3, Bonus stages were not allowed even if you didn't collect anything inside the bonus stages, simply because it would reset many aspects of the level, such as water level, enemy placement, and removal of active glitches (though Rings were not one of those things).

Challenge rooms read like it does Sonic 3's shenanigans with Sonic 2's reset. Ban them outright.

7
Breaking the same searchlight in White Acropolis is not allowed, as noted in the Competition Rules.

That was something we all knew wouldn't fly, when we scoured that game for rules 13 years ago.

In every level with a slot machine ever hosted on TSC, both scores and ring charts were completely disabled. What makes casino forest a special exception?

GBA emulators in particular are allowed. DS isn't because of its poor emulation.

Yeah, but this isn't about current record holders. It's about who broke the streak.

Here's a thought:

Use divisions for the wispons, and rank all 9(?) separately.

Prison Hall, right?

*googles*

Oh, Arsenal Pyramid too, I guess. Prison Hall was the first thing that came to mind for me, as running around with Void makes getting 999 there trivial.

Hey I've done an RA in S3 that took 40 minutes before and I dont see anyone complaining about it...

Y'all whippersnappers should learn the value of patience.

How far do you wanna go with this all-encompassing data? do you only want the current times that each user has or their entire submission history also? The latter might be a monumental task, but the former at least looks as simple as a spreadsheet.

Encore mode has an option to re-enable Time Over. Probably need to enforce it on.

This is already known and banned, from what I remember.

Quote from: Competition Rules
* When using Trial mode, you must only begin a stage from the same place Adventure mode would have you begin that stage (The time at which you start doesn't matter).

Thing is, you're probably not the only one.

With as little communication with players as there is today, there may be no other choices but to either allow the shenanigans or nuke the sonic rings charts for S1 2013.

As for stats you feel are in violation, you can just submit 1 ring until you can replace it with a non-violating stat.

There's nothing to ban in mania, which it why it doesn't have its own page. Explicitly stating that S+T control is legal is important, however, considering what I said earlier: that controlling S+T in basically all other games is banned.

As for S1 2013, I think the rule could simply be revised as you both have mentioned: "Collecting a ring while flying as Sonic and Tails together voids your stat."

I'd fix this myself but 2012 was a thing.

While we have a pretty strict policy towards fake stats and your ability to submit will certainly be revoked, your forum permissions will likely remain. Alternate accounts are a bannable offense, so please don't do that.

That said, I think I can speak for everyone by appreciating you came forward with your mistakes.

This is honestly a gray area that I haven't seen discussed. I'm surprised it wasn't brought up when Mania came out, either. Tails has similar behavior there.

This needs an open discussion, but imo this type of Tails control should be made explicitly legal as opposed to the typical 2P control.

And in the case of Mania (Not S12013 for obvious reasons) I'd suggest that flying as S+T should be perfectly legal.

Well, what's happening in S&K is that tails is grabbing the rings through his own AI control. As long as you're just fudging with Tails' AI and not directly controlling Tails, you're fine.

Were you controlling Tails in his flight? Controlling both S+T in game modes that have S+T is generally disallowed.

Gaming and Grazing / Re: Opening .giz without a rom?
« on: October 18, 2017, 08:20:39 pm »
Short answer: .giz files aren't going to help you.

Long answer: What you saw us doing in the forums was using a Sega Genesis/Mega Drive emulator called "Gens Plus!" which allowed us to record savestates and input strings for playback, which results in "videos" of ridiculously smaller file size (Since the playback is merely the savestate reloaded and the inputs reissued from there). That's obsolete now, since most current-era computers can handle screen capture.

To my knowledge, that only works with Genesis/MD and Sega Master System/ GameGear games, because that's all Gens Plus! supported.
