There's now an 'S' or platinum rank for site records. So the rest have been shuffled about like so:
A/Red (formerly records) - Top 20%
B/Orange (formerly Top 25%) - 20-40%
C/Yellow (formerly 25-50%) - 40-60%
D/Green (formerly 50-75%) - 60-80%
E/Blue (formerly Bottom 25%) - Bottom 20%
So it's a bit more lenient, in that a lot of old oranges will now be red and somewhat less yellows will now be orange. However, this is compensated for in that the game rankings are significantly sterner (http://www.soniccenter.org/?/rankings/sonic_&_knuckles). In the past, achieving green status for a game required beating 25% of the game's players, which generally meant making a few submissions. Now, you'll have to actually average green status in the game's levels, which means that those who submitted a handful of times before and got green (or higher) won't be able to do so anymore just because others submitted even less. It also, IMO, makes the game ranking colors a more accurate indication of skill. X)

Cool. I like the new platinum color.

What about gold?

Gold would be easily confused with the C ranks.
That and...
1 XAU = 460.687 USD
1 XPT = 938.999 USD
